Our mission is to make it easier for queer women to find community & build meaningful connections.

After years of building and managing local online communities for queer women in the Eastern U.S., Laura (co-founder of The LO.) had always wanted to scale the positive impact she had witnessed across the communities she ran to a national (& global) level. When she and Jessica moved to Atlanta and found themselves faced with a lack of spaces and community for queer women again–especially as a couple in their thirties — they decided to take that leap. In 2020, combining Laura’s community management experience with Jessica’s background in social impact, they began building The LO. — to make finding and connecting with the queer womens’ community as easy as it should be in the midst of a technological revolution. Because they believe that a connected community is an empowered community.

Our values

Act to Empower

Our culture is the bedrock of what we do–rooted in the belief that empowered women, empower women and that there’s nothing that determined queer women can’t accomplish together. These ethos underlie everything we do from how we screen members to our Community Guidelines.

Visibility Matters

So many of us grew up without role models and had to chart our own paths to success as queer women. Now is the time for us to see and be role models. Bringing queer women together with other proud, like-minded queer women helps us remove the sense of ‘otherness’ we’ve all felt and lifts our collective potential for thriving.

Purpose / Profit

We are a mission driven company, which means growing a thriving and connected community is directly tied to our financial sustainability and success.
