Frequently Asked Questions

What does it mean to be “membership-based”?

Membership-based for us means that we vet all prospective members at various screening levels to make sure that they are number 1, are who they say they are, and after that we vet applications based on values alignment for a two-way culture fit. We want to make sure that LO. members are getting what they are looking for in our community.

What is your membership cost?

$15/month or $140/year.

*Limited partial scholarships are available as we don’t want cost to be the reason that anyone is not able to join THE LO.

Why do you have to charge?

We made a conscious decision when we started THE LO that we did not want to sell member data (as many sites do), which means that we had to find another way to fund our mission-driven business which meant having accessible membership fees.

Are non-binary and gender non-conforming folks welcome?

Short answer: Absolutely! Longer, more nuanced answer: still absolutely! But we want to be transparent that we were primarily created as a platonic community for women who love women and do center our language around women’s empowerment. All of that being said, if you are non-binary or gender non-conforming and what we’re building speaks to you, then you are so welcome! We know that the gender spectrum is ever nuanced and we want to honor that beautiful diversity within our community. Trans women who love women are 1000% welcome!

Is this just an online community, or are there in-person events?

THE LO is an online, to make offline community. What does that mean? We want you to find your people online through our interest-based groups and head out in the real world to meet them through both member-run and LO-run events!
