Frequently Asked Questions
What does it mean to be “membership-based”?
Being membership-based means we intentionally curate who joins THE LO to build a values-aligned community.
Every applicant goes through a vetting process to help ensure alignment, and mutual fit. We’re not trying to be open to everyone, we’re building something specific, and that requires care on both sides.
What are your membership tiers?
Community Tier: A flexible, lower-commitment way to stay connected.
Members can join conversations, participate in member-led gatherings, and engage in the community in a way that fits their schedule and season of life. This tier is designed to keep THE LO accessible while allowing organic participation.
Connectors Tier (available to existing members only): A curated networking-forward circle of engaged members who want to build deeper relationships and support one another professionally.
Connector members participate in quarterly curated gatherings, alongside smaller member-led meetups throughout the year. Over time, active Community Tier members may be invited or able to express interest in joining.
What is your membership cost?
Community Tier: $35/quarter, plus a one-time $65 onboarding. Onboarding includes a curated introduction into the community.
Connectors Tier: Available to existing members only.
Limited partial scholarships are available. We never want cost to be the only reason someone can't be part of THE LO.
Why do you have to charge?
We charge for two reasons:
First, membership fees allow us to operate independently without relying on advertising or selling member data, which many platforms do. We’ve made a deliberate decision not to monetize members in that way.
Second, we believe meaningful community requires intention. A paid model helps ensure members are aligned, invested, and genuinely interested in showing up and participating.
Community is something you practice, not just access.
Can I cancel my membership?
Yes. You can cancel your membership at any time. Access continues through the end of your billing period.
Are non-binary and gender non-conforming folks welcome?
Short answer: Absolutely! Longer, more nuanced answer: still absolutely! But we want to be transparent that we were primarily created as a platonic community for women who love women and do center our language around women’s empowerment. All of that being said, if you are non-binary or gender non-conforming and what we’re building speaks to you, then you are so welcome! We know that the gender spectrum is ever nuanced and we want to honor that beautiful diversity within our community. Trans women who love women are 1000% welcome!
Is this just an online community, or are there in-person events?
THE LO is an online, to make offline community. What does that mean? We want you to find your people online through our interest-based groups and head out in the real world to meet them through both member-run meetups and LO-run gatherings!
